Brightside Restorative dentistry

Putting teeth back
the way they were.

Fillings, crowns, bridges, root canal therapy, dentures. The work that repairs what has broken down rather than changing how it looks.

What it is

Most of this starts as something small.

A filling done early is a filling. Left long enough the same tooth needs a crown, and later than that it needs a root canal or comes out. None of that is a lecture, it is just the reason we point out the two or three spots worth watching at a checkup.

  • A tooth is sensitive to cold or to pressure
  • Something chipped, cracked or broke
  • An old filling has gone or feels rough
  • Food is packing between two teeth
  • A tooth aches on its own, not just when you bite
  • You are missing a tooth and want the gap closed

What the visit is like

How restorative work is handled here.

  1. We find out what is actually wrongAn exam and the x-ray that answers the question. A cracked cusp, a failing filling and a dying nerve all feel similar and are treated differently.
  2. You get the options, not the optionWhere there is more than one reasonable approach you hear all of them, including doing nothing for now, with what each one costs and how long each tends to last.
  3. Fee and estimate before we startIn writing, per tooth and per surface. If the numbers change once we are in there, the plan comes back to the screen before we continue.
  4. Done at your paceYou can stop at any point with a raised hand. Longer work can be split across visits if sitting still is the hard part.

Cost and coverage

You should never be surprised by a bill.

Every plan arrives with the fee beside each line and the insurance estimate beside that, before you agree to anything. We submit to your plan directly where it allows it, and we are set up for the Canadian Dental Care Plan.

Fees for this are quoted in writing after an exam, per tooth and per surface. Nobody can price it accurately from a website or over the phone.

Common questions

Asked on the phone most weeks.

Will I know what it costs before you start?
Yes. Fees are quoted in writing after the exam, per tooth and per surface, with your insurance estimate beside them. Nobody can price this accurately from a website or over the phone, which is why we do not try.
Is a root canal as bad as people say?
It is usually a long appointment rather than a bad one, and it is done with the tooth fully frozen. Most people find the toothache that brought them in was the worse part.
How long does a crown last?
It varies with the tooth, the bite and how you look after it. We will give you a realistic range for your specific tooth rather than a number off a chart, and we do not promise a lifetime.

Booking

Say what it is when you call.

If it is pain, say that -- it changes how the day gets arranged. If it is a checkup for three people, say that too and we will try to put you in one morning.
